There are two main kinds of CPAP tubing – standard and heated tubes. Heated tubes ensure that the humidified air from the machine stays warm and moist from the time it leaves machine to when it reaches the mask. This is especially important in winter, where a cooler room temperature can result in condensation (i.e. excessive moisture) in the tube, and inadequate humidification of the air entering the upper airway.
