The Philips Respironics DreamStation Auto CPAP Machine is an innovative and patient-driven auto-adjusting (APAP) sleep apnoea machine designed to be as comfortable and easy to experience as sleep is intended to be.

The DreamStation’s sleek and modern design fits great on your bedside table. It’s light and quiet (<30 db) and is easy to pack on the go with the included travel bag. It features a simple interface with straight-forward navigation menus and a front-facing display which can be operated lying down or sitting up. It comes with a single piece heated humidifier water chamber which adjusts to changes in temperature and is easy to clean and operate.

1. Patient Driven Design:

A sleek, stylish, low-profile design offers the important features that patients wanted in a therapy device. It is small and light weighing only 1.52kgs, making it easy to pack for travel. It features easy-to-navigate menus, a front-facing display that can be operated while lying down or sitting up in bed as well as an easy-to-clean, one-piece humidifier water chamber. Each morning patients are greeted with the previous night’s sleep therapy report and a summary of their progress helping to motivate consistency of use. This display shows a simple trend of their nightly hours of use with, followed by a summary of the last 30 days of usage with more than 4 hours of compliant use.

2. Opti-Start Technology:

Optimised pressure from start to end. By enabling Opti-Start technology, your therapy will start at 90% of the previous night’s session to allow the machine to eliminate any events that may have occurred early in the night when pressure is still ramping up. This feature can be enabled and disabled at any time by the patient or clinician.

3. Heated Humidifier and Heated Tube:

The heated humidifier is designed to increase comfort throughout the night during your therapy. This humidifier fits directly into the machine and features dry box technology to reduce the chance of water entering the machine or tubing from the humidifier.

Heating settings in standard mode provides continuous heat levels of 0 to 5 with 5 being the highest. The Adaptive humification mode is also available which automatically adjusts heat levels during the night based on the ambient humidity and room temperature to minimise dry nose or mouth. A preheat option to heat the humidifier up to 30 minutes before starting therapy exists.

5. Auto-Adjusts pressure:

The DreamStation Auto is designed to adjust air pressure automatically by identifying flow limitations in your breath. It will adapt to any changes in breath and adjust the pressure to its optimum levels throughout the night to provide you with the comfortable peace of mind you need.

6. Mask Fit Test:

Mask fit check is incorporated in the machine to test if any leaks in your mask are present at higher pressure levels without needing to go to sleep. Great tool for testing new masks and headgear tightness levels.

4. Smart Ramp:

Traditionally, the ramp allows for a constant gradual increase of pressure over a set amount of time. The DreamStation range is equipped with a SmartRamp option where it will monitor the patient through the ramp time and increase pressure only as events occur.

5. Auto On/Off:

The device can automatically start or stop the therapy depending on if the user has their mask on or off.

6. Flex Pressure Relief:

The Flex setting is a comfort feature in the DreamStation range and it lowers the pressure when you exhale and slowly increases the pressure when you inhale again. The increase and decrease of pressure is transitioned smoothly to prevent sudden changes in pressure which assists patients with adjusting to therapy.

7. Acclimation Made Easy:

DreamStation includes a set of tools to help make it easy for patients starting therapy and for their continued long-term use. EZ-Start can help patients gradually acclimate to therapy, while SmartRamp allows users to fall asleep to lower pressures.

8. Support for the Long Term:

Build-in Bluetooth makes connectivity to the DreamMapper patient self-management tool easy. DreamMapper provides goal-setting tools, hlepful videos and ongoing feedback to keep patients motivated and engaged.
