Do You Have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Here Are Some Common Signs

April 8, 2021

Do you feel constantly tired all the time no matter how much rest you get? You might have chronic fatigue syndrome – a condition characterised by excessive tiredness for at least 6 months that can’t be explained by an underlying medical condition.

As tiredness is associated with many health problems it is important to distinguish the difference between symptoms of chronic fatigue (feeling tired all the time) and the illness chronic fatigue syndrome (which has additional symptoms).

If you have been consistently fatigued for the past six months and have four or more of the following, you could have chronic fatigue syndrome: 1. Impaired memory or concentration 2. Extreme, prolonged exhaustion and feelings of illness after physical or mental activity (post-exertional malaise) 3. Unrefreshing sleep 4. Muscle aches and pains 5. Joint pain with no swelling or redness 6. A new type of headache or a change in your headache pattern 7. Frequent sore throat 8. Tender lymph nodes in your neck and near your breast

If you do feel excessively tired, getting a sleep study is an important step to determining the underlying issue. The CPAP Clinic has a network of 40 clinics nationwide, and works in partnership with Centurion Healthcare, a Respiratory & Sleep Specialist clinic group to provide comprehensive sleep care including:
