Dr Anthony Frankel
MBBCh FCP(SA) FRACPDr Anthony Frankel is the Medical Director of Centurion Healthcare and the former Head of Respiratory & Sleep Medicine at Bankstown‑Lidcombe Hospital with a career spanning more than 30 years across South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1983 and qualified as a General Physician with Respiratory sub‑speciality in 1991. He pursued further study in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in Auckland, New Zealand, obtaining his Australian Fellowship in 1987. After work at North Shore Hospital Auckland, he moved to Sydney in 2003, furthering his career at Bankstown Hospital.
Dr Frankel has been involved in research relating to COPD, Asthma, Pneumonia and Pulmonary Embolism. His work has appeared in peer‑reviewed journals including the Medical Journal of Australia and Respirology Case Reports, and has been featured in national media.
Dr Sultana Syeda
MBBS FRACPDr Sultana Syeda is a Respiratory and Sleep physician in Sydney, NSW, and is currently the Head of Respiratory and Sleep Services at Bankstown Lidcombe Hospital. She undertook Basic Physician Training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Advanced Training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Prince of Wales Hospital. Dr Syeda provides holistic, evidence‑based care and has extensive experience managing asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease and lung cancer.
Dr Shervin Amirmalek
MD FRACPDr Amirmalek is a dedicated respiratory physician specialising in lung cancer and interventional pulmonology. He serves as a Respiratory Staff Specialist on the Central Coast and is the Director of Training at Bankstown Hospital. He is also a Respiratory VMO at Bankstown Hospital.
Graduating with an MD from Tehran Medical School of Azad University in 2002, he later obtained registrations with the GMC (UK), General Practice (AON), ECFMG certification, and the Australian Medical Council certificate. In 2020, he achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians.
He is a member of TSANZ, ERS, APSR, WABIP and Lung Foundation Australia. With extensive training—including a fellowship in lung cancer and interventional pulmonology at Sir Charles Gairdner and Fiona Stanley Hospitals—Dr Amirmalek focuses on pleural diseases, lung nodules and thoracic malignancies, and is an expert in medical pleuroscopy. He also has strong interests in sleep‑disordered breathing, asthma/COPD, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary vascular diseases.
Beyond clinical expertise, Dr Amirmalek is committed to a supportive patient experience and ongoing learning to ensure the highest standard of care.
Dr Kelvin Hsu
MBBS PhD FRACPDr Hsu graduated from the University of Melbourne. He completed advanced training in respiratory and sleep medicine at Westmead, Bankstown‑Lidcombe and Concord Hospitals. He is a Senior Staff Specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Bankstown‑Lidcombe Hospital and a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at University of NSW. He is a local examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He completed a PhD in endoscopic lung volume reduction procedures in patients with emphysema at Macquarie University.
Dr Ming Teo
MBBS FRACPDr Ming Teo is a highly trusted Sleep Physician based in Macquarie Park, Australia. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Sydney in 2001. After completing his medical training, Dr Teo specialised in respiratory and sleep medicine, earning a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2009. With over a decade of experience, he has established himself as a leading expert in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep conditions.
Dr Teo’s areas of expertise include sleep disorders, with a focus on optimising patient care and improving quality of life. He remains current with advances in sleep medicine and regularly attends conferences and workshops.
In addition to his medical skills, Dr Teo is fluent in Mandarin, allowing him to effectively communicate with Chinese‑speaking patients and provide personalised care. He is dedicated to building strong relationships with his patients and tailoring treatment plans to individual needs and goals.
Dr Aaron Ting
MBBS(Hons) BSc(Med) FRACPDr. Ting is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician who completed his training in 2017 with experience in diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases. He has skills in diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy as well as management of pleural diseases. He is also a qualified sleep physician with skills in diagnosis and management of sleep disorders as well as in reporting sleep studies.
Dr. Ting obtained his medical qualification, M.B.B.S.(Hons), from University of Tasmania in 2007. Since then, he has worked in tertiary teaching hospitals such as Princess Alexandra Hospital, The Alfred Hospital, Austin Health and he completed his basic physician training at Westmead Hospital. During his Respiratory and Sleep training, he worked with experienced physicians and researchers at John Hunter Hospital, Bankstown Hospital and Westmead Hospital. He is commencing a research project at Westmead Hospital and will function as a part-time Respiratory Fellow at Westmead Hospital.
Dr. Ting is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, the European Society of Respiratory, Lung Foundation Australia and the World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. He has presented research projects at national conferences during his training. His interests include medical teaching, travelling and expanding his professional network. He is currently a part-time Respiratory & Sleep staff specialist at Bankstown Hospital.
