Bulk-Billed Medical Specialist Telehealth Service
The Australian Government introduced a new telehealth scheme on 13 March 2020 to help prevent community transmission of COVID-19. From 30 March 2020 to 30 September 2020, the scheme is expanded to become general in nature and consultations can be for any medical conditions. A review is scheduled prior to 30 September 2020 to determine ongoing necessity of the scheme.
Am I eligible and will the consultation be bulk billed?
Our specialist telehealth service is open to everyone. All Australians with a valid Medicare card will be bulk billed. For patients without a valid Medicare card, you can still utilise our telehealth services, however an out of pocket fee will apply (depending on the length of the consultation).
What types of specialist consultations are covered?
The scheme now covers telehealth consultations provided by specialists, consultant physicians and psychiatrists for any medical condition. Our specialist telehealth services will be provided by respiratory/sleep specialists and cardiologists, in conjunction with our affiliated clinic Centurion Healthcare. Centurion is a multidisciplinary specialist clinic group in the areas of Respiratory, Sleep Disorders, Cardiology and Psychology. It is one of the largest providers of respiratory and sleep disorder services nationally, with services in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.
Do I need a referral?
The scheme covers consultations with or without a referral from your GP. However, where possible, a GP referral is beneficial in that it provides the specialist with your current medical history and medication list. You can also see consult your GP via telehealth.
CPAP Telehealth Service
To safeguard the health and wellbeing of our staff and patients, and to provide continued community access to health services during this time, we have also introduced CPAP telehealth service that is open to everyone. This service:
- Is free of charge for all existing and new customers
- Covers all types of enquiries from CPAP commencement and equipment selection, downloading, troubleshooting, or other enquiries relating to any products or services listed on our website.
- May be a phone consultation or video consultation as appropriate.
Are your clinics still open?
YES. The CPAP Clinic and Centurion Healthcare remain open for patients that may require face to face consultations. We have made the telehealth service available for patients in isolation or in vulnerable groups, and for the general community at this time when social distancing is vital. We encourage the use of telehealth services where possible to help prevent community transmission.
