How The Timing Of Your Meals Can Affect Your Health And Weight

We all know it’s important to eat a healthy balanced diet – but did you know that the time of day you eat can matter just as much? Several recent studies have shown that eating after 8:00 p.m. is the worst time to eat – here’s why.

Research by the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania showed that eating late in the day increases weight, insulin and cholesterol levels, and poor fat metabolism. Eating later increases risk markers for diabetes, heart disease, other health problems. Furthermore, eating within 4 hours of sleep is associated with a higher BMI.

Eating right before bed can also affect the quality of your sleep, leading to restless nights. We already know from other studies that sleep deprivation also negatively affects weight and metabolism as well. So, in addition to eating healthy foods, it is important to time your meals well for your heart health, weight, and sleep!
