New NSW Restrictions Coming Into Effect 4pm

NSW has reintroduced many social distancing measures after 16 new COVID-19 cases were recorded. 10 of the new cases have been linked to the Bondi cluster, now at 31.

The new restrictions take effect 4:00pm today and will be in place for one week.

  1. Visitors to households will be limited to 5 guests — including children
  2. Masks will be compulsory in all indoor non-residential settings, including workplaces, and at organised outdoor events
  3. Drinking while standing at indoor venues will not be allowed
  4. Singing by audiences at indoor shows or by congregants at indoor places of worship will not be allowed
  5. Dancing will not be allowed at indoor hospitality venues or nightclubs however, dancing is allowed at weddings for the bridal party only (no more than 20 people)
  6. Dance and gym classes limited to 20 per class (masks must be worn)
  7. The one person per four square metre rule will be re-introduced for all indoor and outdoor settings, including weddings and funerals
  8. Outdoor seated events will be limited to 50 per cent seated capacity
  9. Previous public transport capacity limits, represented by green dots, will be reintroduced
  10. If you live or work in the City of Sydney, Waverley, Randwick, Canada Bay, Inner West, Bayside, and Woollahra local government areas, you cannot travel outside metropolitan Sydney for non-essential travel.

These restrictions will apply to people who live in Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour. You can read the NSW Health Media release here: https://bit.ly/3qhltGy
