ResMed AirTouch F20 Full Face CPAP Mask Starter Kit (includes 5 spare cushions)

M-630021 ResMed
The ResMed AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask is ResMed’s premium full face CPAP mask. The AirTouch F20 utilises UltraSoft™ Memory Foam Technology, which is softer than a silicone cushion, and moulds to the contours of a user’s face, providing a better seal (reducing air leakage) and greater comfort. The AirTouch F20 cushion covers the nose and mouth. The AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask Starter Kit consists of 6 Memory Foam Cushions (one attached to the mask and 5 spare cushions) as it is designed to be replaced on a monthly basis. Key features that make the ResMed AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask a more premium, comfortable and better fitting mask than other traditional CPAP masks are as follows: 1. UltraSoft™ Memory Foam Cushion Technology – moulds to the user’s facial contours, delivering a more tailored fit to reduce air leakage and red marks on the user’s face. This plush, breathable cushion minimizes pressure points and reduces skin irritation and abrasion, making it suitable for all sensitive skin types. 2. Modular Frame Design – allows users to switch between the AirTouch F20 memory foam cushion and the AirFit F20 InfinitySeal cushion at will. This flexibility enables patients to experiment with different cushion options to find the one that best suits their needs and preferences.

3. Looser Mask Fit – as the AirTouch F20’s memory foam cushion generally provides a more reliable seal, users can wear their mask with less tension in the mask headgear, reducing pressure on the face, with users experiencing fewer strap marks, particularly when they wake up the following morning.

4. Magnetic Headgear Clips – putting on and taking off the AirTouch F20 mask has never been easier. The magnetic headgear clips securely attach to the mask frame, allowing for hassle-free attachment and detachment, resulting in a stable fit throughout the night.

5. QuietAir™ Vent Technology – makes sleeping with CPAP quieter. ResMed’s QuietAir vent technology gently diffuses exhaled air, significantly reducing noise and promoting a peaceful sleep environment for you and your partner.

6. Quick Release Elbow – enables users to disconnect their CPAP machine quickly without having to remove the entire mask, making night-time bathroom visits or beverage trips more convenient than ever.

7. Multiple Cushion Sizes – the AirTouch F20 mask is available in a Small, Medium and Large size to accommodate a wide range of facial shapes and sizes. Find the size right for you using our sizing chart.

8. Minimalistic Design – was intentional to allow for a clear line of sight, particularly for bedtime reading or watching TV before drifting off to sleep. This feature also assists in reducing feelings of discomfort and/or claustrophobia that can be associated with other more traditional CPAP masks.

9. Lightweight Design – allows users to wear their AirTouch F20 mask for longer, helping to reduce any potential neck or head fatigue.

10. Easy to Clean and Maintain – as the AirTouch cushions are easily detached from the mask and disposable, minimal cleaning and maintenance is required. It is recommended that the AirTouch cushion be wiped daily with a gentle soap and warm water to remove facial oils and debris.

11. Universal Compatibility – the AirTouch F20 is compatible with most CPAP machines, irrespective of CPAP brand, ensuring easy integration with a user’s existing CPAP machine. Please note that CPAP users’ experiences can vary from individual to individual depending on their preferences and facial structure and features.

ResMed AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask FAQs

1. What is the ResMed AirTouch F20 mask and how does it work?

The ResMed AirTouch F20 is a full face CPAP mask designed to deliver reliable therapy for people who breathe through their mouth or nose during sleep. What makes this mask unique is its UltraSoft memory foam cushion. Unlike traditional silicone cushions, the memory foam gently conforms to the natural contours of your face, offering a breathable, secure seal that helps reduce pressure marks, skin irritation, and discomfort. This makes it especially beneficial for people with sensitive skin, facial asymmetry, or facial hair.

The AirTouch F20 is available in three sizes (small, medium and large) and it’s compatible with most CPAP machines. The mask features magnetic clips for quick and easy removal, and a flexible frame that moves with you as you sleep.

We recommend the AirTouch F20 to patients who have struggled with discomfort, red marks, or persistent leaks using other full face masks. We offer in-clinic fittings and telehealth support to help you trial different sizes and ensure a proper, comfortable fit.

If you’re looking for a softer, more adaptable full face mask that still delivers an excellent seal and reliable performance, the AirTouch F20 could be a great fit.

2. Who should use a ResMed AirTouch F20 mask?

The ResMed AirTouch F20 is ideal for a wide variety of CPAP users, particularly those who haven’t had success with traditional silicone masks. This mask may be especially helpful if you:

- Breathe through your mouth while sleeping
- Experience leaks with other mask types
- Have sensitive skin or react poorly to silicone
- Toss and turn at night and dislodge other masks
- Have facial asymmetry or facial hair

The memory foam cushion offers a gentler, more adaptive seal that stays in place even when you change sleep positions. It doesn’t require as much headgear tension to seal effectively, which can help reduce pressure marks and increase comfort.

3. What is the difference between ResMed AirTouch and AirFit CPAP masks?

The primary difference between the ResMed AirTouch and AirFit full face masks is the cushion material. The AirTouch F20 uses an UltraSoft memory foam cushion, while the AirFit F20 uses a silicone cushion.

Memory foam cushions are soft, breathable, and mould to the contours of your face, offering a more personalised and comfortable seal. They’re ideal for users who experience pressure marks, irritation, or leaks with silicone masks. However, memory foam cushions are not washable and generally need to be replaced every 30 days.

Silicone cushions, like those in the AirFit F20, are more durable and can be cleaned with warm soapy water. They last longer and are better suited for users looking for a lower-maintenance option.

A key advantage is the full interchangeability between AirTouch and AirFit cushions, giving users the flexibility to choose between two cushions without changing the entire mask

4. How often should I change my ResMed AirTouch F20 mask?

How often you change your AirTouch F20 depends on how often you use it and how well it’s maintained. Here are some general guidelines:

Memory foam cushion: Replace approximately every 30 days. Since the foam can’t be washed and absorbs oils and moisture, it can lose its seal over time.

Headgear: Replace every 6 months, or sooner if it becomes stretched or slips during sleep.

Magnetic clips, elbow swivel, and frame: These parts typically last 6–12 months but should be checked regularly for wear, damage, or reduced performance.

Cleaning: Use CPAP mask wipes to gently clean the memory foam cushion daily. Avoid water, alcohol, and detergents. Wash the headgear and frame weekly with warm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.

5. Can I buy replacement parts for my AirTouch F20 mask?

Yes, you can easily purchase replacement parts for the ResMed AirTouch F20 mask, and it’s a good idea to replace worn components regularly to ensure comfort and effective therapy.

The most commonly replaced item is the memory foam cushion, which ResMed recommends replacing every 30 days. Because it can’t be washed, the cushion will gradually lose its seal as it absorbs oils, sweat, and moisture.

Other parts you can replace include:

- Headgear: If it becomes stretched or loses grip
- Magnetic clips: For easy headgear attachment; replace if they become loose
- Elbow swivel: The connector piece between the mask and your tubing; allows for movement while you sleep

All these components are available at our clinics and online store, and we’re here to help you choose the right replacements. If you’re unsure what you need, our team can assist you in person or via a telehealth appointment.

6. How do I know if my AirTouch F20 mask fits correctly?

A properly fitted mask should feel secure and comfortable, with minimal air leakage. Here’s how you can check your AirTouch F20 fit:

- The memory foam cushion should gently seal against your face, without needing to be overly tight.
- You shouldn’t feel or hear air escaping from the sides, especially when the machine is running.
- The mask should stay in place, even if you change sleep positions.

Signs of an incorrect fit include red marks, discomfort, frequent leaks, or needing to tighten the straps excessively.

To test your fit:

1. Sit upright and turn your CPAP machine on.
2. Observe for leaks.
3. Lie in your normal sleep position and recheck.
4. Gently run your fingers around the cushion to check for escaping air.

At Sove, we offer in-clinic and telehealth fittings to help fine-tune your mask. If your mask doesn’t feel quite right, we’re here to help make adjustments and ensure you get the most out of your therapy.

7. Can I sleep in any position with the ResMed AirTouch F20 mask?

The ResMed AirTouch F20 is designed with comfort and flexibility in mind, making it suitable for most sleep positions, especially side and back sleeping. The soft memory foam cushion conforms to your face, while the stable headgear helps keep the mask in place as you move during the night.

Most users find they can comfortably sleep on their side without significant leaks, as long as the headgear is adjusted properly and the pillow doesn’t press directly against the mask. The memory foam’s flexibility allows it to maintain a seal even with slight shifts in position.

However, sleeping on your stomach can be more difficult with full face masks in general. Pressure from your pillow may dislodge the mask or create pressure points. If you’re a dedicated stomach sleeper, a nasal or minimal-contact mask may be more suitable.

If you’re not sure whether the AirTouch F20 suits your sleep style, our team can help you trial different setups and suggest accessories that improve your comfort.

8. Will an AirFit F20 cushion fit on an AirTouch F20 mask?

Yes, the AirTouch F20 and AirFit F20 cushions are fully interchangeable. This means you can swap between ResMed’s memory foam cushion and the more traditional silicone cushion option without needing to change your mask frame or headgear.

This interchangeability allows you to try both types of cushions and choose what works best for your skin, comfort preferences, and therapy needs.

Many users begin with the silicone cushion for its durability and washability, then switch to the memory foam for a softer, more adaptive feel.

At Sove CPAP Clinic, we often guide patients through trying both cushion types. Whether you visit us in person or book a telehealth consult, we can help you compare comfort, reduce leaks, and make the most of your CPAP therapy.

9. How do I clean the Memory Foam cushion on the ResMed AirTouch mask?

Cleaning the memory foam cushion on the AirTouch F20 takes a gentler approach than silicone. Since the cushion is porous and not water-resistant, it should never be rinsed, soaked, or cleaned with alcohol or soap.

Instead, wipe it gently each day using non-alcoholic CPAP mask wipes. These are specially designed to remove oils, sweat, and residues without breaking down the foam’s integrity. Here’s how to clean it:

- Use a CPAP wipe every morning after use.
- Hold the cushion in place and lightly wipe the surface—don’t scrub or stretch it.
- Let the cushion air dry completely before using it again.

Because memory foam can’t be deep cleaned, ResMed recommends replacing the cushion every 30 days.

Other mask components like the headgear and frame can be cleaned weekly with mild soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and air dry before reassembling.

10. Where can I purchase ResMed AirTouch cushions?

You can buy replacement cushions for your ResMed AirTouch F20 mask directly from our clinics or online store. We stock both single cushions and 3-pack bundles in Small, Medium, and Large, available in-store and online.

Since memory foam cushions need to be replaced every 30 days, many patients prefer buying a 3-pack to save time and money. These cushions are made from memory foam, which provides a gentle, adaptive seal but gradually loses effectiveness as it absorbs facial oils and pressure.

Whether you’re buying in person, over the phone, or online, Sove CPAP Clinic is here to make the process smooth, convenient, and fully supported.

11. Is the AirTouch mask suitable for users with sensitive skin?

Yes, the ResMed AirTouch F20 is often a top choice for people with sensitive skin. Its memory foam cushion offers a much gentler seal than traditional silicone, reducing the likelihood of red marks, irritation, or pressure sores.

Because the memory foam conforms to your unique facial shape, it doesn’t require tight headgear to create a secure seal. This helps reduce pressure and friction, two major causes of discomfort for users with delicate or easily irritated skin.

Many patients come to us after experiencing skin reactions, discomfort, or poor fit with silicone masks. In these cases, the AirTouch F20 often provides immediate relief. It’s also a great choice for people with facial hair, rosacea, or uneven skin texture, as the foam adapts more easily than silicone.

12. Is the AirTouch mask compatible with all CPAP machines?

The ResMed AirTouch F20 is compatible with nearly all standard CPAP and bilevel machines available today. It uses a universal 22 mm connection that fits most CPAP tubing, so you can use it with devices from ResMed, Philips, Fisher & Paykel, and other major brands.

The only major exception is the ResMed AirMini travel CPAP, which requires a specific connection. By default, the AirTouch F20 is not compatible with the AirMini due to differences in tubing and connections. However, third-party connectors are available that may allow for compatibility, though performance is not guaranteed.

If you’re not sure whether your current machine will work with the AirTouch F20, just bring it in or call us. We’ll confirm fit, recommend any adapters you may need, and ensure your mask setup works seamlessly with your therapy.

13. Can I replace the cushion on the AirTouch mask?

Yes, the cushion on the ResMed AirTouch F20 is fully replaceable, and it should be replaced regularly for best performance and hygiene.

The memory foam cushion is designed to provide comfort and a secure seal but is not washable. Over time, the foam absorbs oils, moisture, and environmental particles, which can affect its effectiveness. That’s why ResMed recommends replacing the cushion every 30 days, even if it still looks clean.

To replace the cushion:

1. Gently peel off the used memory foam cushion from the mask frame.
2. Align the new cushion with the frame and press it firmly into place.
3. Check for a smooth, even seal all the way around.

Sove CPAP Clinic stocks individual cushions and cost-saving 3-pack bundles. We can help you stay on track with a replacement schedule and ensure your mask continues to deliver optimal therapy.

14. What should I do if my AirTouch mask feels uncomfortable?

If your AirTouch F20 feels uncomfortable, there are several steps you can take to improve the fit and feel of your mask.

1. Check the headgear tension: Over-tightening is a common issue. Memory foam cushions don’t require as much pressure as silicone to form a good seal, so try loosening the straps slightly.

2. Reassess the size: If the mask feels too tight, leaks excessively, or sits awkwardly on your face, you may need a different cushion size. The F20 is available in Small, Medium, and Large.

3. Inspect the cushion: If your cushion is over 30 days old or starting to feel stiff or less supportive, it may need to be replaced.

15. Is the AirTouch mask suitable for side sleepers?

Yes, the AirTouch F20 can be a great choice for side sleepers. The memory foam cushion is flexible and adapts to your face even as you change positions, helping maintain a secure seal through the night.

That said, sleeping on your side can sometimes cause shifting or increased pressure against the mask, especially if your pillow presses into it. To help with this, consider using a CPAP-friendly pillow. These pillows are designed with cut-outs or contours to reduce pressure on your mask while supporting your neck and head.

For side sleepers, achieving comfort with the AirTouch F20 often depends on getting the right fit, adjusting headgear tension, and using a CPAP-friendly pillow

16. Is the AirTouch F20 mask covered by private health insurance?

Whether your AirTouch F20 mask is covered will depend on the specifics of your private health insurance policy. In Australia, most private health funds include some level of cover for CPAP masks and accessories under extras or ancillary benefits, but the rebate amount, eligible items, and claiming frequency can vary significantly between providers.

To make the most of your cover, we recommend contacting your insurer directly and confirming:

- If CPAP masks are included under your extras cover or a specific category (e.g. medical devices or respiratory aids)

- The rebate amount you’re entitled to for full masks or individual components like cushions, headgear, and tubing

- How often you can make claims—some policies allow claims every 12 or 24 months, while others have annual limits or reset dates

We issue detailed invoices with health fund item codes to streamline your claim. If you’re unsure what to ask, our team can help you understand your entitlements and guide you through the process.

17. How long can I expect the AirTouch F20 mask to last with regular use?

The AirTouch F20 is designed for comfort and performance, but like all CPAP masks, its components have different lifespans depending on usage and care.

Cushion: The memory foam cushion should be replaced approximately every 30 days. Unlike silicone, memory foam is porous and cannot be washed or disinfected in the same way. Over time, oils from your skin and general wear can cause the cushion to lose its shape and seal, affecting your therapy.

Headgear: With regular use and gentle weekly cleaning, the headgear usually lasts around 6 months. If you notice it becoming stretched, frayed, or less secure, it’s time for a replacement.

Frame and elbow: These more durable plastic components can last between 6 and 12 months, depending on how often you disassemble and clean them. Damage, cracks, or loss of flexibility are signs they may need to replace them sooner.

To get the most out of your AirTouch F20, consistency is key. Regular inspection, cleaning, and timely part replacement help maintain a secure fit, reduce mask leaks, and keep your therapy effective.
