Viraclean – First TGA Approved Product to Claim it Kills COVID-19
Viraclean is an Australian-made Hospital Grade Disinfectant, and is the first product approved in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to be able to claim that it kills SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus (AUST L: 69000).
This follows changes by the TGA in March 2020 to allow listed disinfectants to make validated claims to kill the COVID-19 virus on surfaces. Under AUST L: 69000, TGA has given approval for the Viraclean label to state: “Kills Coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).” After intensive research and development, Dr Greg Whiteley, Chairman of Whiteley Corporation, said “We are delighted to announce this new claim for our product Viraclean, which is a truly Australian invention, developed, manufactured and proven in Australia… This new label claim for Viraclean against the virus responsible for the current pandemic will add to certainty around the level of hygiene in hospitals, particularly Intensive Care Units, Emergency Departments, and a range of other clinical, medical and dental applications.”
Viraclean Hospital Grade Disinfectant was invented for use on a broad range of bacteria and contaminated surfaces. Viraclean’s infection prevention technology was initially intended for the healthcare industry to better protect its workers and patients from the risks of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus cross infection via inanimate high tough objects and surfaces. However, given the community spread risks across the country, there are many other industries that can benefit from using Viraclean.
Viraclean passes TGA option B, and is effective against a broad range of bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Enterococcus faecalis (VRE), Klebsiella pneumoniae (CPE/ CRE) and Acinetobacter and is also proven effective against Candida albicans, Hepatitis B virus, Herpes Simplex virus, the Influenza virus and Coronaviruses including SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
