What to Expect for Your Sleep Study

A Type 3 home based sleep study is a portable sleep study for screening Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). It only has a few sensors, and can be applied in the comfort of your own home without the need for a technician. The type 3 sleep study, in comparison to the type 2, is easier to set up and does not require a referral from a doctor. A private fee is applicable.

Preparing for Your Sleep Study

• Getting a portable study is easy. Simply click HERE order your device. You can have it shipped to you directly or collect it from one of our clinics. There will be instructions included as to how to apply the device yourself. • Once your order has been placed, one of our sleep lab technicians will be in touch to set up your Type 3 sleep study. There will be a few forms that we require you to complete prior to the study. • When you receive the device, please refer to the instructions inside the bag. You can also check the YouTube video guide HERE • When you are awake the morning after your test, please make sure to check if the test was complete. You can do this by holding the power button for about three seconds. o If the indicator light turns green, the test is complete and you can return the unit to us using the reply-paid postage label included in the package. o If the indicator light is red, please replace the batteries with fresh AAAs and attempt the test again the following night. NOTE: If you return the unit but the test is incomplete, you may not get a valid result, or will need to pay a fee to attempt the test again • If your study is successful, our sleep lab will send you a sleep study report by email within three business days of receiving the returned device from you. You can use the tracking number on the postage bag to see when this time will be.
