According to a Journal of Occupational Health Psychology study, a lack of sleep contributes to an increase in disrespectful and inconsiderate emails.

Sleep apnea can affect your mood, irritability and decision-making processes. Running off poor quality sleep can make it difficult to watch your words, often leading to passive-aggressive responses. A lack of sleep can also limit your ability to recognize the insensitive nature of your emails. While some recipients can easily brush off these emails, others can be more seriously affected.
