CPAP Machine Hires - Trials and Rentals

Thinking about CPAP but not ready to commit? Try it first.

At Sove CPAP Clinic, our 4-week trial gives you the chance to experience CPAP therapy in your own home before deciding if it’s right for you. For just $100-200, you’ll receive a complete setup, including a premium automatic or Bilevel CPAP machine, a properly fitted mask and expert support.

We’ll help tailor the equipment to your needs, guide you through setup, and check in regularly to make sure everything’s working well. It’s a simple, risk-free way to see how CPAP can improve your sleep, boost your energy, and support your long-term health without any pressure to buy.

Who Is a CPAP Trial For?

A CPAP trial is great for anyone who wants to experience CPAP therapy before deciding to buy a machine. You might consider a trial if:

  • You’ve been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and want to see how CPAP feels and works before buying.
  • You’re new to CPAP and feeling unsure about which machine or mask to choose.
  • You’re a snorer or have sleep apnea symptoms and want to try CPAP therapy short-term to see if it improves your sleep.
  • You’re currently using an older CPAP machine and are wanting to sample newer models and the latest technology.

Essentially, if you’re not ready to purchase outright or want to be sure CPAP will suit you, our trial is the perfect first step. It’s a low-cost, no-pressure way to find out what works best for your sleep health.

What’s Included in the 4-Week Trial Package?

Your trial includes everything you need to get started comfortably at home: a high-quality automatic CPAP or bilevel machine with humidifier, heated tubing, power supply, filters and a carry bag.

Rest assured, a CPAP mask and mask fitting is part of the trial. Our clinicians will help you find the right style and size for your comfort, meaning you do not need to purchase a mask separately for the trial – it is part of the package.

Throughout your trial, you’ll also have access to all the support and supplies you need. If any part needs replacement or if you wish to try a different mask or even a different machine model, we can accommodate that (depending on availability). The aim is to ensure you have the best possible setup during the trial period.

Find Your Machine

During your trial, you’ll be able to explore different CPAP masks and machines to find the setup that’s most comfortable and effective for you.

The first step—guided by one of our CPAP consultants or a respiratory and sleep specialist—is selecting the right type of machine. Based on your individual needs, they’ll help determine whether an automatic (AutoSet) or bilevel machine is the best fit. For most people, an automatic machine is the recommended starting point.

Here are some of the machines available during the trial:

After sales Support and Guidance During Your Trial

When you undertake a CPAP trial with Sove CPAP Clinic, you’re fully supported every step of the way. We don’t just hand you a machine and send you off – our goal is to ensure you get the maximum benefit from your trial and feel comfortable using the equipment.

Throughout the 4-week trial, you will have regular follow-up consultations (typically weekly) with our CPAP consultant or clinician. In these sessions, we’ll discuss how you’re adapting to therapy, address any issues (like mask fit or discomfort), and review the data from your machine.

If needed, we can adjust settings or swap out masks/machines to improve your comfort and treatment results. These check-ins are a great opportunity to ask questions and get expert guidance as you adjust to sleeping with CPAP.

Our support doesn’t stop at appointments. You can reach out to our team by phone o on 1300 76 29 39 or via telehealth anytime Monday through Saturday with any concerns or questions during your trial.

Easy Pickup or Delivery of Equipment

We strive to make starting a CPAP trial as convenient as possible for you. Whether you live near one of our clinics or far away, we have flexible options to get the trial equipment to you quickly:

Sove CPAP Clinic has over 60 locations across Australia. When you arrange your trial, you can choose to pick up your CPAP machine and accessories from the clinic location nearest you. Our staff will have everything prepared for you and can even do the initial fitting and setup on the spot. This face-to-face pickup option is great if you prefer hands-on guidance right away.

If you’re not able to visit a clinic or simply prefer convenience, we can deliver the CPAP trial package right to your door. We offer delivery Australia-wide, so no matter where you are, you can still take advantage of our trial program. The equipment will be shipped to you promptly, with instructions included. (Delivery is typically free or at minimal cost for trial packages – we’ll let you know when you book your trial.)

After the Trial

After your 4-week CPAP trial is complete, you’ll have a clear understanding of how CPAP therapy works for you. At that point, you have a few options:

  • Purchase a CPAP machine: If you found the trial beneficial (as most people do) and are ready to continue treatment, you can choose to purchase your own CPAP machine. Our team will help recommend a device based on what you liked during the trial. Because Sove CPAP Clinic is independent and carries all major brands, you’ll have plenty of choice.
  • Continue renting: Not ready to buy just yet? We understand that some people may want to extend the trial or arrange a longer-term rental. We offer flexible rental programs tailored to your needs and budget. You could continue renting the same unit for additional weeks or months, or try a different machine for comparison. This option gives you more time to be sure, or it can be useful if you’re only in need of a CPAP for a shorter term.

  • Return the equipment: If you decide CPAP therapy isn’t right for you, you can simply return the trial equipment to us with no further obligations. We’ll ask for your feedback and make sure you’re aware of any other alternatives for managing your sleep apnea. The trial is truly no obligation.

Whichever choice you make, our clinicians will discuss it with you at the end of the trial and answer any final questions. Many trial participants are so pleased with their improvement that they move forward with their own CPAP machine. But the choice is yours – the trial is about helping you make an informed decision that you’re comfortable with.

If you do move ahead with purchasing a machine, we’ll be there to continue supporting you as a long-term patient of Sove CPAP Clinic. And if you need to try a different solution, we can help with that too.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is a CPAP trial and how does it work?

A CPAP trial is a short-term rental period (commonly 4 weeks) where you can test out a CPAP machine and mask at home without buying it for a fixed fee. In the trial, you’ll use the CPAP every night and see how it improves your sleep apnea symptoms.

During the trial, your usage and comfort are monitored, and adjustments can be made. It’s essentially a “try before you buy” program for CPAP therapy – you get to experience the treatment and its benefits first-hand, then decide if you want to proceed with purchasing or returning the unit.

2. Who should consider a CPAP trial?

Anyone unsure about CPAP therapy or what equipment to get can benefit from a trial. If you’ve been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, a trial is a great way to experience CPAP risk-free before investing in a machine. It’s especially useful for first-time users who want to make sure they can tolerate the mask and pressure, and to figure out which mask/machine is most comfortable. Even if you’re just a heavy snorer or have symptoms and want to see if CPAP helps, a trial is an ideal first step. Essentially, if you want to test CPAP in Australia without buying upfront, a trial program is the way to go.

3. How much does a CPAP trial cost in Australia?

The cost of a CPAP trial in Australia varies depending on the provider and the type of machine selected. At Sove CPAP Clinic, a 4-week trial package is priced at $100 AUD for an automatic (APAP) machine and $200 AUD for a more specialised bilevel (BiPAP) machine

This fee usually includes the machine rental, mask use, and support services during the trial. Always check what’s included in the price – some clinics might charge extra for certain mask types or extended support.

4. What’s included in a CPAP trial or rental package?

A standard CPAP trial package in Australia will include the essential equipment and support to use CPAP therapy at home. Typically, you’ll receive a CPAP machine with a humidifier, tubing, filters, and a carry case, as well as a CPAP mask (often you can try different mask styles to find the best fit). In addition to hardware, reputable providers include support services such as initial setup and instruction, follow-up consultations (to check your progress and comfort), and access to help by phone or email during the trial.

The goal is to give you the full experience of owning a CPAP, so any good trial package should be all-inclusive. At Sove CPAP Clinic, for instance, our $100 trial package includes a premium auto-adjusting CPAP machine with all accessories, a mask fitting, weekly check-ins with a clinician, and phone/telehealth support throughout the 4 weeks.

5. Do I need a prescription or referral for a CPAP trial in Australia?

In Australia, while you don’t always need a formal prescription to try a CPAP machine, it’s strongly recommended (and often required by clinics) that you have had a sleep study or a doctor’s diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea before starting therapy. CPAP is a medical treatment, so a proper evaluation ensures that it’s appropriate for you.

Most CPAP trial providers will ask for evidence of your sleep apnea diagnosis or may have you consult with their clinician first. If you haven’t done a sleep study yet, we can help arrange one. It’s best to talk to your GP – they can guide you on what’s required to get started.

6. How long is the CPAP trial period?

Most CPAP trials run for about 4 weeks (28 to 30 days). This duration is typical because it gives users about a month to adapt to the therapy and see results. Medical guidelines often suggest a minimum of a few weeks to gauge effectiveness. However, the trial length can sometimes be adjusted – some providers offer shorter trials (2 weeks) or longer ones (up to 6–8 weeks) depending on your needs.

At Sove CPAP Clinic, our standard trial is 4 weeks long. We find that this gives most people enough time to get comfortable with CPAP and notice improvements. If you feel you need a bit more time, we are flexible and can often extend the trial week-by-week or convert it into a rental plan to suit you.

7. Can I rent a CPAP machine instead of buying one?

Yes, we offer CPAP machine rentals as an alternative to purchasing. A CPAP trial is essentially a short-term rental with added support, but you can also arrange longer-term rentals if you’re not ready to buy. For example, after a 4-week trial, you might choose to continue renting the machine on a monthly basis. Renting a CPAP can be a good option if you only need it temporarily (such as during travel or while waiting for surgery), or if buying outright isn’t feasible immediately.

CPAP rental fees are typically charged weekly or monthly. The rental might be “open-ended” (you rent for as long as you need and return when done) or for a set period. Keep in mind that if you rent long-term, the costs can add up, so many people use rentals as a bridge to eventually buying their own device. Rental programs often still include support and maintenance. Sove CPAP Clinic can tailor a rental program to your needs if you prefer that route.

8. What support will I get during a CPAP trial?

Support is a crucial part of any CPAP trial. You should expect to receive professional guidance and assistance while you’re trialing the equipment. This usually includes an initial training session on how to use the CPAP machine and fit the mask. During the trial, most providers offer follow-up consultations (either in person or via phone/telehealth) to check on your progress. For instance, at Sove, we schedule weekly check-ins to review your comfort and the data from the machine, making any needed adjustments.

You’ll also have access to our team for questions or troubleshooting any time during the trial (Monday through Saturday support). Good support means you’re not left on your own – if you have issues like difficulty tolerating the pressure or mask leaks, the clinicians will help resolve them. This level of support helps you get the most out of the trial and improves your chances of success with CPAP.

9. What if the CPAP mask or machine is uncomfortable during the trial?

It’s common to try a CPAP mask or machine and find that the first option isn’t perfectly comfortable – that’s exactly why trials are helpful. If you’re uncomfortable at any point, let your provider know immediately. They can usually suggest solutions. Often, discomfort can be fixed by adjusting the mask fit or switching to a different mask style. (There are full-face masks, nasal masks, and nasal pillow masks – one might suit you better than another.) Similarly, if the machine’s pressure feels too strong or you’re having difficulty exhaling, the clinician can adjust comfort settings or try a different device (like a different model or one with exhalation relief features).

Don’t be afraid to speak up about any issue. Whether it’s skin irritation, dryness, noise, etc. With expert help, most problems can be resolved by tweaking the equipment or settings so that you remain comfortable and get effective CPAP.

10. What happens after the CPAP trial ends – do I have to buy the machine?

After the trial, you’ll discuss your experience with the provider. There is no obligation to buy the CPAP machine at the end of a trial. If you found that CPAP really helped and you’re comfortable with it, the logical next step is to purchase your own machine (and mask) to continue therapy long-term.

On the other hand, if you felt that CPAP wasn’t beneficial or you couldn’t adapt to it, you can return the equipment and stop without any further costs.

A CPAP trial is meant to inform your decision; a reputable provider will not pressure you and will support whichever choice is best for your health.
