ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet CPAP Machine
The flagship in the new ResMed AirSense 11 range is the ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet.
ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet is ResMed’s premium CPAP machine. It takes the best of its predecessor, ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet and has refined it into a smaller package with even more technology.
Smaller and Lighter
ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet is 94.5mm x 259.4 mm x 138.5 mm (H x W x D) and weighs 1.13 kg. This makes it 24% smaller and 10% lighter than the ResMed AirSense 10.
ResMed’s Proven “AutoSet” and “AutoSet for Her” Therapy Modes Now in One Device
ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet not only gives users the flexibility of using their device in either fixed pressure or automatic CPAP mode, but also the choice of “AutoSet” or “AutoSet for Her” therapy mode, all in one device.
Both modes adjust pressure for apneas, hypopneas and flow limitations. However, there are some differences between men and women, which these 2 modes seek to address:
Flow Limitation Sensitivity:
AutoSet for Her: as women tend to experience hypopneas (partial closure of the airway) more than apneas (complete closure of the airway), the AutoSet for Her algorithm is more sensitive to these partial closures, otherwise known as flow limitations.AutoSet: the standard algorithm also responds to flow limitations, however, not to the same level of sensitivity as the AutoSet for Her.
Pressure Rises
AutoSet for Her: employs a gentler and more gradual increase in airflow, which women tend to find this more comfortable.
AutoSet: by contrast, reacts more aggressively, employing a more rapid rise in airflow.
Previously, these modes were built into 2 separate ResMed AirSense 10 devices – ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet and ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her. Now, the ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet device contains both modes in the one device.
It is important to note that whilst the AutoSet for Her algorithm was designed specifically with women in mind, it can be just as effective for some males too. Conversely, some women prefer the standard AutoSet algorithm. Choosing between the two therapy modes is generally a matter of individual comfort and preference, which should be made in consultation with your doctor or CPAP Consultant.
Greater Comfort with Expiratory Pressure Relief and Sleep Onset Detection
ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet’s sleep onset detection, makes going to sleep more comfortable, by delivering low airflow pressure initially, followed by a gradual increase in pressure over time, and as the user drifts off to sleep.
Another comfort feature is Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR). This reduces the pressure when the user exhales, and then resumes regular airflow when inhaling.
Integrated Heated Humidifier and Heated Tube
Reduce dry mouth with ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet’s easy-to-clean humidifier and removable tub. Operated via a touchscreen display, humidification can be controlled manually or automatically with the Climate Control feature.
For colder nights, the heated tube, makes for a more comfortable night’s sleep with warmer air to breathe, and eliminating rainout (i.e. condensation), which can occur when heated air cools in a user’s tubing due to a colder room, resulting in water droplets dripping on the user’s face, or bouncing off the tubing wall, making a “knocking” type sound.
Modern Design with Easy Navigation
ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet was designed to be modern and more stylish to help make CPAP therapy less daunting in particular for new users.
ResMed’s design team also sought to make navigation easier with a much larger start/stop button and colour touchscreen.
Integrated cellular Connectivity
ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet transfers user’s sleep data securely to the cloud for access in AirView and myAir.
myAir Support
ResMed’s myAir app allows users to track their CPAP therapy.
Exclusive to AirSense 11 users, there are now new enhanced myAir features: Personal Therapy Assistant and Care Check-in. These features are designed to assist users with the setting up of their device, as well as providing voice-guided tips on how best to optimize their CPAP therapy.
Over-the-Air Upgrades
Users will benefit from over-the-air software updates as well as comfort and clinical features direct to your ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet from time to time.
CPAP is used for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea treatment. ALWAYS FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR USE. When considering whether CPAP treatment is right for you, speak to your doctor.

ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet – FAQs
1. What is the ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet and how does it work?
The ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet is one of the most advanced auto-adjusting CPAP machine, designed to deliver tailored therapy for people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It works by monitoring your breathing throughout the night and adjusting the air pressure automatically to maintain an open airway. This helps prevent the breathing interruptions typical of sleep apnea without requiring a constant, fixed level of pressure.
The device features ResMed’s proven AutoSet and AutoSet for Her algorithms in one machine, giving users flexibility to choose the most effective therapy mode. These algorithms are responsive to changes in your sleep stage, body position, or respiratory events like flow limitation, snoring, and apneas.
The AirSense 11 also includes ResMed’s comfort-enhancing features like AutoRamp (which starts therapy at a low pressure and gradually increases it once you’re asleep), Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR), and integrated heated humidification. The touchscreen interface offers a modern and intuitive user experience, and the Personal Therapy Assistant helps guide new users through setup and mask fitting.
Sove CPAP Clinic assists patients in tailoring their AirSense 11 AutoSet device to align with their prescribed therapy settings and comfort requirements. Featuring Bluetooth and 4G capabilities, the device allows for real-time data monitoring through the myAir app, positioning it as a leading solution in modern sleep apnoea treatment.
2. Who is the AirSense 11 AutoSet best suited for?
The AirSense 11 AutoSet is a great fit for many people living with sleep apnoea. It’s especially helpful for those who are new to CPAP therapy, thanks to its guided setup and easy-to-use touchscreen. The device is also a strong option for anyone whose breathing needs vary throughout the night, like those who change sleep positions, experience nasal congestion, or have pressure-sensitive sleep patterns.
It also includes the AutoSet for Her mode, designed specifically to suit female breathing patterns, which tend to involve more subtle flow limitations. This mode delivers therapy more gently and can make treatment more comfortable for women or anyone who finds standard settings too intense.
The AirSense 11 is compact and travel-friendly, making it ideal for people on the go. And if you’ve struggled with older CPAP models or fixed-pressure therapy in the past, you might find the AirSense 11 to be a more comfortable and personalised experience.
We often recommend the AirSense 11 for patients who have had difficulty tolerating fixed-pressure therapy or who have stopped using CPAP in the past due to discomfort. With its advanced comfort settings and connectivity features, the device allows both patients and clinicians to work collaboratively to fine-tune therapy and troubleshoot early, helping improve long-term compliance.
3. What’s the difference between the AirSense 11 AutoSet and AirSense 10 AutoSet?
The AirSense 11 AutoSet is the next-generation model following the AirSense 10 AutoSet, and it includes several upgrades in both hardware and software. While both machines deliver trusted, auto-adjusting CPAP therapy, the AirSense 11 features a more modern design and user experience.
Key differences include:
- A touchscreen instead of buttons and dials, making navigation more intuitive.
- A slimmer, lighter design that takes up less space.
- Both the standard and “For Her” algorithms are built into one device, so you don’t need to choose between models.
- Wireless updates that allow the machine to stay current with new features.
- A built-in Personal Therapy Assistant to guide you through setup, mask fitting, and troubleshooting.
While the AirSense 10 is still a trusted machine, many patients appreciate the AirSense 11’s smoother setup process and improved digital features. At Sove, we help you compare the two side-by-side and choose the one that fits your needs, lifestyle, and budget.
4. Can the AirSense 11 AutoSet be used in fixed-pressure mode?
Yes! Even though the AirSense 11 is primarily an auto-adjusting device, it can also be set to operate in fixed-pressure CPAP mode if that’s what your doctor has prescribed.
Fixed pressure means the machine delivers the same level of air pressure all night, without adjustment. This can be helpful if your ideal pressure level has already been identified during a sleep study, or if you find the fluctuations of auto-adjusting machines a bit distracting.
Switching modes is simple, but we recommend doing this with the support of a clinician. At Sove CPAP Clinic, our team of CPAP consultants and sleep physicians can walk you through the pros and cons of each therapy mode, help you make the switch if needed, and ensure your settings are properly configured.
Whether you’re starting therapy for the first time or changing your treatment plan, we’re here to help you find the setup that feels right for you.
5. How do the AutoSet and AutoSet for Her modes differ?
The AutoSet for Her mode is specially designed to address the unique ways women experience obstructive sleep apnea. Research has shown that women often have more subtle breathing disruptions and may not snore loudly or stop breathing in a way that triggers standard algorithms.
The AutoSet for Her algorithm includes:
- A lower pressure threshold to initiate treatment.
- Faster response to early flow limitation.
- Gentler pressure increases to reduce arousals and improve sleep continuity
These features can make therapy more comfortable for lighter sleepers and help improve adherence over time. If you’re unsure what mode to use, we frequently help patients compare their results between modes and assess comfort and outcomes using data from the myAir app and clinician review. This flexibility makes the AirSense 11 a highly personalised option for women and others who benefit from gentler, early intervention pressure responses.
6. Can I track my therapy progress with the AirSense 11 AutoSet?
Yes,and with more insight and ease than ever before. The AirSense 11 offers multiple ways to monitor your CPAP therapy and stay informed about your progress. These include:
- The myAir app: This user-friendly mobile app provides a nightly sleep score based on usage, apnoea events, mask fit, and leaks. It also includes coaching tips and milestone rewards to encourage consistent use.
- On-screen Sleep Report: Each morning, your machine will display a summary of the previous night’s data, including usage hours, AHI (Apnea–Hypopnea Index), and mask seal quality.
- Remote Monitoring: If enabled, our team of respiratory and sleep physicians and CPAP consultants can view your therapy data through ResMed’s secure AirView platform. This allows our team to identify potential issues early, adjust settings, and offer support without requiring a clinic visit.
We use this data to support patients across their therapy journey. From checking your adherence and sleep quality to helping with mask changes or pressure tweaks, we ensure you get the most out of your device every night.
7. How do I clean and maintain the AirSense 11 AutoSet?
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to keep your ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet performing at its best and ensure your therapy remains safe and hygienic. Below are some simple care tips and suggested cleaning intervals to help you stay on top of your CPAP routine:
Daily care:
- Empty and rinse the water chamber each morning.
- Use only distilled or demineralised water to reduce mineral build-up.
- Allow all parts to air dry thoroughly, away from sunlight.
Weekly care:
- Disassemble the mask, tubing, and water chamber and wash with warm, soapy water (mild, fragrance-free detergent).
- Rinse thoroughly and let all items air dry fully before reassembly.
- Wipe down the machine’s exterior with a soft damp cloth.
Monthly care:
- Check the air filter at the back of the device. If it looks grey or dirty, replace it. Filters typically last between 1 and 6 months, depending on your environment.
Sove stocks a range of cleaning supplies and replacement parts, and our team is happy to demonstrate proper cleaning techniques in person or via video consultation. Clean equipment not only improves comfort and performance—it also extends the life of your machine.
8. Is the AirSense 11 AutoSet suitable for travel?
Absolutely. While it’s not a designated travel model like some smaller machines, the AirSense 11 AutoSet is still lightweight, compact, and easy to take on the go.
It comes with a travel bag that fits your machine, tubing, power cord, and mask, and it’s approved for in-flight use. You can activate Airplane Mode in the settings to disable wireless functions during flights.
Here are a few travel tips to keep mindful of:
- Activate Airplane Mode when flying to disable wireless functions.
- Carry a medical letter if planning to use the device onboard—our team can issue one.
- Bring a universal travel adapter for overseas trips.
- Use a ResMed battery backup (such as the Power Station II) for camping or areas without power.
- Pack distilled or demineralised water in checked luggage, or source locally at your destination.
We’re happy to help you prepare for any kind of travel, whether it’s a weekend away or a long overseas trip. Just let us know your plans, and we’ll make sure your CPAP therapy doesn’t miss a beat.
9. How do I set up the AirSense 11 AutoSet for the first time?
Starting CPAP therapy can feel like a big step, but setting up your AirSense 11 is surprisingly easy. And if you need help, we’re just a call away.
While we always recommend reading the user guide and following the manufacturer’s instructions, here’s a general overview of the process:
- Unpack your device and connect the tubing to the outlet port.
- Fill the humidifier tub with distilled or mineral water and insert it securely into the device.
- Attach your CPAP mask to the end of the tubing.
- Plug in the machine and power it on. Tap ‘Start’ on the touchscreen or enable AutoStart in the settings menu.
- Follow the on-screen prompts from the Personal Therapy Assistant, which provides step-by-step guidance on comfort settings and mask fitting.

We also assist with mask fitting, adjusting your humidity settings, and reviewing your data from the first few nights. Our goal is to help you start your therapy with comfort, clarity, and confidence.
10. Why is my AirSense 11 AutoSet making noise or not working properly?
The AirSense 11 AutoSet is designed to operate quietly and reliably. However, if it starts making noise or seems to malfunction, here are common causes and solutions:
- Whistling/hissing: Often due to a poor mask seal. Adjust your mask or check for a worn-out cushion.
- Gurgling: Caused by condensation (“rainout”) in the tubing. Try reducing humidity settings or using a heated hose.
- Reduced airflow: Check for a blocked air filter or a disconnected hose.
- Leaking humidifier: Ensure the water chamber is correctly inserted and not overfilled.
- Power issues: Confirm the power cable is securely plugged in. If needed, try a different outlet.
If your device still isn’t functioning as expected, reach out to Sove CPAP Clinic. We can assist with troubleshooting, organise a loan device if needed, and help with warranty support. We aim to keep your therapy running smoothly, night after night.
11. Do I need a prescription for the AirSense 11 AutoSet in Australia?
Technically, a prescription isn’t always required to purchase a CPAP machine in Australiabut, we strongly recommend using one. Why? Because your therapy should be tailored to your medical needs.
A prescription from a sleep physician or respiratory specialist ensures:
- Your pressure settings are accurate and safe.
- The machine is set up based on your sleep study.
