What is a Portable Sleep Study?

The Portable Sleep Study is a test for screening Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It only has a few sensors, and can be applied in the comfort of your own home without the need for a technician. It’s easy to set up and doesn’t require a referral from a doctor.

Who is it for?

It’s a useful test for those with a moderate-to-high risk of having Obstructive Sleep Apnea and do not have other medical conditions. You can complete a questionnaire <hyperlink coming soon> to find out if you are at risk of having Sleep Apnoea.

How do I get a test done?

Q&A

______

Do I need a referral from my Family Doctor?

Type 3 studies do not require a referral and can be ordered directly, without seeing a doctor.

How do I know whether I have booked the appropriate sleep study for myself?

Once you have ordered a sleep study, you will be contacted by one of our Consultant who will assess your Medicare eligibility (if required) and book a suitable date and time with you.

What if I don’t know which sleep study type to pick?

That’s ok. Our Consultants are here to help. Call us on 1300 76 29 39 and a Consultant will talk to you about your requirements, and help you determine which sleep study will suit you best.

Alternatively, your family doctor will be able to assist you also.

How independent and reliable are my sleep study results?

The CPAP Clinic facilitates sleep study bookings (Type 1, 2 and 3) on behalf of Centurion Healthcare. All sleep studies are reported by independent sleep specialists who are not affiliated with The CPAP Clinic.

Centurion Healthcare has a well-regarded physician team that includes Respiratory Heads of Departments at major public hospitals and former President and Secretary of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Centurion Healthcare provides universal bulk billing for in-lab sleep studies (available in NSW only) and Type 2 home sleep studies (available in NSW, VIC and QLD) with minimal wait time. Medicare criteria apply.

What if I have questions?

If you have questions about studies or how to make a booking, please do not hesitate to contact us on 1300 76 29 39 and speak with one of our friendly Consultant or email us on info@thecpapclinic.com.au
